IETT and ITSHKSH: Two Institutions Uniting Tirana and Skopje through Joint Projects
On May 30, 2024, the Institute of Education, Heritage, and Tourism (IETT) paid an official visit to the Institute of Spiritual and Cultural Heritage of Albanians (ITSHKSH) in Skopje. During the visit, the activities of both institutions were presented, and discussions were held on projects of mutual interest.
The IETT delegation included Prof. Dr. Ramiz Zekaj, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Prof. Dr. Nevila Nika, Executive Director; and project coordinator Mrs. Anisa Hykaj. The delegation was warmly received by the Director of ITSHKSH, Dr. Skender Asani, along with his scientific advisors, Dr. Abraham and Dr. Sevdail Demiri.
Among the topics discussed was a significant IETT initiative: the organization of a joint conference dedicated to Hoxha Kadri Prishtina, a prominent historical figure and founder of the Committee for the National Defense of Kosovo—a patriotic organization established in 1918.
Dr. Skender Asani expressed his full support for the initiative, emphasizing the crucial role the Committee played in several key areas of national interest. Prof. Dr. Nevila Nika highlighted the Committee’s importance, noting that it was the driving force behind the Congress of Lushnja, a landmark event that marked the beginning of Albanian state-building.
Prof. Dr. Zekaj voiced his confidence that the conference would provide significant scholarly contributions, as many archival documents related to these historical figures remain unpublished. He emphasized the importance of shedding light on these materials to properly honor those who played leading roles in shaping the nation’s history.
This sentiment was echoed by Dr. Zeqirija Ibrahimi, who remarked that the conference would fulfill one of the Committee’s original aspirations: the unification of the nation—this time in a cultural and academic sense.
IETT highly values its cooperation with its counterpart, ITSHKSH in Skopje, and considers it vital for advancing projects of shared significance in the service of both the community and the nation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the latest publications were exchanged between the two institutions as a symbol of ongoing collaboration.
